A Proud Heritage...

St. Mary’s Platt has been part of women’s cricket history for almost a century, thanks to local pioneer Frances Heron Maxwell.

At a time when opportunities for women were extremely limited, 'Max' played a key role in advancing the women’s game. She helped establish the Women’s Cricket Association and campaigned for greater access to facilities and funding.

In 1937 she hosted the Australian women’s international team at Great Comp Gardens ahead of the first ever women’s Ashes Test in England. Today, Platt Ladies Cricket proudly continues that legacy by creating opportunities for women and girls of all abilities to play and enjoy the game.
